About heidihi. I am a passionate photographer and freelance travel writer. Travel writing has evolved naturally from years of working in and around Europe and through World Travel on the QE2 Cruise liner.
I live with my family in Brisbane, Australia, working as a freelance travel writer and photographer, editor and copy writer.
My love for international cuisine has kept me involved with food and travel editorials and has resulted in a number of design and marketing awards.
I am a member and contributor of the ITWA (International Travel Writer Association). AllWays (Independent travel journalists) Queensland Writers Centre and Chaine des Rotisseurs.
As a professional travel writer for 30 plus years, I have extensive experience in research, writing and editing for magazines, professional and corporate clients.
I was born in Basel, Switzerland.
Basel is in the heart of Europe, traditional and cosmopolitan. The Centre of Basel has a magnificent, historic old town. The City is situated on the river banks of the Rhine. In Basel, the three countries of Switzerland, France and Germany border onto each other at the “Border Triangle”.
Living in the centre of countries renowned for their own exciting traditions, I was taught early the appreciation of cultural differences. I embraced travelling to learn about different philosophies of life and found myself inspired by unique – sometimes bizarre – lifestyles and international cuisine.Here is a brief overview of my background and experience:
Business Management, Marketing and Language studies in Switzerland gave me a well rounded qualification to do anything I really liked, wherever I wanted to.
I lived and worked all over Europe. One of the highlights of my career was definitely my years in Greece and my travels on cruise liners.
As a freelancer, I wrote for various magazines, including travel writing for Burda Germany, Myerpress Austria (best restaurants and chefs in London), JAL In-flight Magazines (shopping and dining guide), The Dining Out Magazine. (received Hall of Fame and two Marketing awards)

With this website I aim to combine my love for Cruising with my passion for food.
I’m looking to get feedback from happy passengers, their own cruising adventure and encourage them to participate in competitions.
I will inform about the cruise liners greatest chefs and write about their Master classes, reveal their favourite recipes, their choice of matching wines and inform about beer, spirits, coffee, chocolate – (Swiss chocolate that is) etc.
I want to tell about the Destinations, the fresh food markets in exotic places, the local food, wine and traditions.
