What a great time we had at the Gold Coast. It was the perfect short break, leaving us relaxed as if we have had a week’s holiday. Even though the Gold Coast is just a short drive from Brisbane, it is great to stay overnight so the designated driver can have a glass – or two – of wine with dinner. As briefly mentioned, Mel and I recently celebrated our anniversary, and this was our anniversary dinner treat at Jupiters.
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Dustin Osuch, executive chef and his team surprised us with a fabulous dinner. Everybody was very attentive and our head waiter, originally from Vienna, was friendly, professional and informed, about all aspects of our ceremonial dinner.
I was very pleased that the chef remembered my Gluten Free bread. It was good too. It’s not easy to find good GF bread, but this one was exceptional and toasted to perfection. Very often GF bread is tasteless and if not double or even triple toasted, really not worth bothering with.
We started our dinner with a Caprese salad; Vine ripened tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil sprinkled with balsamic dressing. A fresh, light and delicious starter, which we both enjoyed to the last bite. Did you know that initially, Insalata Caprese was created to match the colours of the Italian flag? – red, white and green?
The main course was a very generous serving of crispy skin, Baked Red Snapper with tomato fragrant herbs, porcini mushrooms and asparagus. A very tasty choice.
Our bottle of T’Gallant Imogen Pinot Gris matched well. This wine is a generous and weighty Pinot Gris. I loved it as it is not overly fruity. “The nose is ripe and very complex with floral notes and touches of tropical fruit. The palate is succulent, generous with great weight and richness”. Dessert; surprise, surprise! Look at this; dessert served on a “happy anniversary” plate of bubbling, flowing fog. Vanilla Pannacotta with radicchio jam and strawberries. A delicious light and flavoursome dessert to finish our celebration.
Thank you everyone at Jupiters.
We had such a good time that we almost missed the start of the ultimate Vegas show.
If you would like to create the foggy dessert effect at home, get dry ice, pour some hot tap water over it and there you have your vigorous, bubbling, voluminous fog, but please be very careful!!!
