In Vancouver, we stayed at the fabulous Wedgewood Hotel & Spa. This Boutique Style Hotel is right in the heart of Vancouver, in a prime location for shopping and entertainment and is set next to the gardens and waterfalls of Robson Square.
We checked into our elegant and spacious suite which was going to be our home away from home between our travels in Canada. Douglas Liu, Assistant Manager, introduced us to members of the staff and gave us a tour through the inner sanctum of the Hotel.
The remarkable success of the 83 room Wedgewood Hotel is due to the passion and flair of Ms. Elpie Marinakis- Jackson. Her devotion to detail and her long-serving, loyal and well-trained staff is exemplary. As a guest, you not only feel comfortable, but you sense the love and dedication everybody brings to work. Ms. Marinakis continued her mother’s passion Eleni Skalbania and has brought her personal flair, culture, and European elegance into this well managed Boutique Hotel in the heart of Vancouver. Every part of the building has her touch with individual ornaments, fabrics, covers, cushions and tasteful artwork she has sourced on her travels.
I found my favourite hideaway outside the Body and Soul Spa, on the tranquil, landscaped Verandah.
As I am writing about the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa, the Hotel has just been awarded
The Top City Hotel in Canada in the prestigious
Travel + Leisure World’s Best 2016.
CONGRATULATIONS.
Bacchus is the Wedgewood’s award-winning restaurant. We enjoyed an animated unforgettable evening with the Hotel Manager Glenn Eleiter. We dined surrounded by luxury, sitting on comfortable, soft upholstered furniture, admiring the Murano crystal fixtures imported from Venice and the exquisite artwork giving the restaurant this fuzzy warm welcome-home-feeling.
The executive chef Simon Bolsover pampered us with an astounding degustation menu. A dinner of gastronomic excellence. Seasonality dominates the creations of Simon’s menus throughout the year. We were witness to his sophisticated interpretation of modern French cuisine. Simon’s high standard, passion and in-depth knowledge of food is shared with his motivated team.
A very attentive and knowledgeable sommelier matched every delicious bite with the perfect wine.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Wedgewood. Thank you to everyone for making our visit truly memorable. Should you plan to visit fabulous Vancouver, the Wedgewood is a must.
